Marvel’s Next Big Thing: The Amazing Spider-Man: Ends of the Earth

As 2012 approaches, so does the 50th Anniversary of Spider-Man, along with Amazing Spider-Man #700. Earlier today, Marvel Comics hosted a press conference with current Amazing Spider-Man writer Dan Slott to let us in on the next big story arc happening in Amazing Spider-Man, which paves the way towards the anniversary celebrations.

The next story arc is titled Ends of the Earth, and will be a six issue story arc beginning in Amazing Spider-Man #682 and lasting for 6 issues. Slott will be joined by artist Stefano Caselli, who will be drawing the first two issues, the last two issues and the covers for the story arc. They did not reveal the artist who would handling art duties on the middle 2 issues of the story arc.

Slott revealed that Ends of the Earth is a story that he has been building to since Amazing Spider-Man #600, focusing on Doctor Octopus, who is left with a mere weeks to live and has rallied the Sinister Six again to exact his revenge on the world. We’ve seen Doc Ock appear in the pages of Invincible Iron Man and Avengers Academy, and these appearances have been all according to plan, as Doc Ock prepares for this one, last, big global threat. The Sinister Six that will be at play in this story arc as Slott revealed will be Doctor Octopus, The Rhino, Sandman, Electro, Mysterio and The Chameleon, a very formidable lineup.

One of the aspects of this story arc that has Slott the most excited is the scope. “This story’s focus in on action and adventure,” explained Slott, which is a departure from his usual character based storytelling.  Additionally, the theater of this story goes beyond New York City, as it branches out to be a story that takes place all over the world, as the title Ends of the Earth suggests. In addition to Spider-Man, Slott promises that the Avengers will appear, as well several notable Marvel characters, although the story will take place solely within the pages of Amazing Spider-Man.

To combat this threat, as we’ve seen in past issues, Spider-Man will unveil some new Spider-Tech and a new costume that he’s designed while working at Horizon Labs to help fight the Sinister Six. While Slott wouldn’t reveal the details of the costume, we do get a glimpse of it in the preview art below. Similar to how Spider-Man created a suit to deal with Hydro-Man, Slott says that this costume is designed specifically for the members of the Secret Six. One of the issues of the arc has Slott super excited, as it’s an all villains issue, that centers on the Secret Six, depicting them in all their super villain glory.

With the 50th Anniversary coming up and issue #700 of Amazing Spider-Man, the timing seems primed for the upcoming movie release of The Amazing Spider-Man, set to come out in the summer of 2012.  When asked about any sort of tie ins, Slott revealed that there will be around the time of the movie release, there will be  ”an epic Spider-Man/Lizard battle” which should work nicely with the villain in the movie being the Lizard.  The upcoming Amazing Spider-Man Point One issue that Slott is co-writing with Christos Gage with art by Matthew Clark will feature a tease of this battle.

It’s clear that Slott is a writer made to write Amazing Spider-Man, as his excitement for the character is infectious. Ends of the Earth is an arc that he’s been laying the ground work for throughout his run, and as a reader of Amazing Spider-Man, I can’t wait to see it all unfold.

Ends of the Earth begins in Amazing Spider-Man #682, scheduled to come out in March of 2012.

Silence and I (written 3-8-2007)

If I cried out loud
over sorrows I’ve known
and the secrets I’ve heard
it would ease my mind
someone sharing the load
but I won’t breathe a word

While the children laughed
I was always afraid
of the smile of the clown
so I close my eyes
till I cant see the light
and I hide from the clouds

I can hear the cry
of the leaf on a tree
as it falls to the ground
I can hear the call
of an echoing voice
and there's no one around

We’re two of a kind
silence and I
we need a chance to talk things over
two of a kind silence and I
we'll find way to work it out

Stimulate

I wonder if you can stimulate me
The way you stimulate my mind
Do you think of various positions
Or do I hit instinctively from behind
Are you the type who talks dirty
Do you like to take control boo
Or will you bust real quick few
Or will you wait 'till I let go
Is it all about you
Or will it be all about me
What would you rather see
Dropping to my knees
How would you like me to
Stroke your soul all night
Would you rather I just stroked you
Until the morning light
Do you want to be on top
Riding me real fast
Or me hittin you from the back
While your slappin my ass
Or  layin on your back
With your heels at your shoulders
Or is it however we land
Wherever you're throwin'
I wonder if you work out
Think I can pick me up
Do you like to sit or stand
When you suckin dick and the clit gets sucked
If I rub your ass cheeks
And my finger went between
Would you jump and curse
Or would it make you cream
If I kissed on your nipples
Would it make you shiver
Or suckin on your ear
Is that what makes you quiver
Do you like to jump right in
Or you want me to beg you
Can I do whatever I want
Or is it what you say do
Would you let me blindfold you
And tie you to my bed
Or would you rather flip the script
And do me instead
Would you be intimidated
If I pulled out my toys
Or would you jump at the chance
To give me more joy
What if I was scared
About trying something new
Would you take it slowly
And show me what to do
Can you watch a flick
and keep your hands on yourself
Would you rather I touch you
And undo your belt
If we were out in public
Would you mind toungin' me down
Or tell me wait till later
Too many peoples 'round
Would you cook me a nice dinner
And feed me with your hands
Or would you rather I cook
Make you feel like dat woman
When you make love
Do you like candlelight
Or should we turn them all off
Just like the darkest night
Do you like to hear slow jams
Do you work it to some jazz
How bout Pac or Biggie
What gives you your pizazz
You want to scream my name
Or just call me Daddy
Or you can be baby girl
If that's what makes you happy
Can I do a sexy dance for you
Would you rather dance for me
I wear boxers or briefs
Would you wear g-strings
Would you rub my feet
How bout suck on your toes
If thats not your steeze
Lets see what else goes
Do you read books
That teach you how to please
Or follow societies trends
And wherever they may lead
Me myself it does'nt matter
I'll do all that I could
'Cause the bottom line for me
Is that we both feel good.

Superman Man Of Steel: Close-Ups Of New Outfit

We already knew that Superman: Man of Steel would be breaking live-action history with Henry Cavill being the first version of Supes to go without the signature red undies. Well, it seems that a handful of more clear and up-close pictures have surfaced which will give us armchair directors plenty of material to analyze.
Besides providing a pretty detailed look at the scale-like tactility of the new outfit, there's also (depending on how you roll,) the added benefit of getting to know the new "Super-bulge" which now shines prominently as the Last Son of Krypton goes commando.

Check out the new pics!
I really gotta say that the costume does look a little better in these pics. Also, what appeared to be a non-functional belt in those far-taken pics from last week now shows itself to be just a non-functional belt buckle. (Which, I guess is not quite as bizarre, but still seems questionable.)
It does reflect the current comic book rendition of Supes' costume well enough. Although, we'll have to wait and see how mainstream audiences react to Superman's uniform, sans red undies

Deadman TV Series in Development

With Smallville recently drawing to a close after 10 seasons, the network is now looking to fill the superhero void with the comic company's most ghostly character with Supernatural's Eric Kripke writing and producing.

Created by Arnold Drake and Carmine Infantino, Deadman is the ghost of circus trapeze artist Boston Brand. Upon being murdered during one of his acts, his spirit is visited by the fictional Hindu deity Rama Kushna. After this divine meeting, he gains the ability to possess any living being to find his murder and dispense justice. Throughout his career, Deadman has faced off against the more mystic side of the DCU, even being involved in disputes regarding the souls of the publisher's superheroes. The character most recently played a prominent role in the Blackest Night story arc.

Since last month, CW executives have expressed a desire to delve into other superhero properties after the series finale of Smallville. The network also developed a pilot forAquaman that was never picked up and passed on the recent TV adaption of DC's David Kelley's Wonder Woman. CW will be looking in house to develop this pilot withSupernatural creator and executive producer Eric Kripke steamrolling the project forward during this development season. He has taken more of a hands off role in the day to day operations of that series, which is set to begin its seventh season this fall, but remains as an executive producer.

New MAN OF STEEL Set Photo Shows No Red Trunks

When the shadowy first image showed up from Superman: Man of Steel, we wondered, along with many fans, if the well-placed shadow was hiding the red trunks or not. Turns out, not.

The image, from Superhero Hype (click the name for a couple more), shows clearly that like his DC “New 52″ counterpart, the new movie Superman will not have red trunks as part of his costume. On the right side of the image is the black-clad villainess Faora of Krypton, as well. The guy between them dressed like Metamorpho is likely not, but dang, that’s uncanny isn’t it?
So what do you think now that we can see the full costume clearly, folks?

Film Review: "Final Destination 5"

Synopsis: In Final Destination 5, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man's premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death's sinister agenda.

Review: Final Destination 5 is, in my opinion, the 2nd best in the franchise thus far. Hands down better than than the 4th, and rivals the 2nd in terms of the opening death sequence. There were many moments of comedic relief, and a new twist in how one can "cheat" death. Probably the most outlandish death scene, which is coincidentally the most anxiety-inducing one, is the gymnast scene. Different possible death scenarios were presented, so you weren't really sure how she was going to die. But, when she did, it was very unrealistic. Overall, the death scenes were quite good and creative, which is what I love so much about the franchise. While FD2 had the most creative kills IMO, aside from the tanning bed scene in FD3 (definitely in the Top 3 FD kills of all time), FD5 had THE BEST ending of all. The twist at the end was highly unexpected and totally satisfying to long-time Final Destination fans.

Kirby Estate files appeal in Marvel lawsuit

When I last heard about the ongoing Jack Kirby Estate vs. Disney/Marvel lawsuit, the company had won summary judgements against the estate and appeals were being planned. Today, the estate filed an official notice of appeal to the Second Circuit Court of Appeal.
“We respectfully disagree with the court’s ruling and intend to appeal this matter to the Second Circuit,” the estate’s lawyer Marc Toberoff told The Hollywood Reporter. “Sometimes you have to lose in order to win.”
With the suit, the Kirby Estate is attempting to terminate early copyright grants of more than 45 characters including Captain America, The Fantastic Four, The X-Men, The Avengers, Iron Man, Hulk, The Silver Surfer and Thor . According to THR, the estate sent notices to Marvel not just Marvel but its licensees Sony (Spider-Man), Fox (X-Men), Universal and others.
“Marvel then sued in New York federal court claiming Kirby’s creations were ‘works for hire’ and thus not subject to termination,” wrote THR. “The two sides filed summary judgment motions, and last month the circuit court sided with Marvel, ruling that Kirby created the characters as works for hire.”
Deadline added, “Normally these kinds of lawsuits are run of the mill for Hollywood. But not when they’re litigated by Toberoff, who is the bane of Big Media studios because he has a winning track record.” Needless to say, a win for the Kirby Estate here could potentially impact the Marvel brand irreparably.

SPIDER-MAN: EDGE OF TIME RELEASES A MARY JANE-CENTRIC TRAILER

Activision has just released a new trailer for their upcoming Spider-Man: Edge of Time, featuring Laura Vandervoort discussing her role as the voice of Mary Jane Watson. Check it out in the player below!

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a focused, action-packed adventure set in two connected and evolving timelines, from the contemporary times of the Amazing Spider-Man to the corrupted future world of Spider-Man 2099, against the backdrop of a rich, tightly crafted narrative by acclaimed Marvel veteran Peter David (co-creator of the comic book series Spider-Man 2099). The game features all-new "cause-and-effect" gameplay, where players will see how the immediate and sometimes unexpected effects of their actions as one Spider-Man changes the timeline of the other Spider-Man.

First Anne Hathaway CATWOMAN Photo From DARK KNIGHT RISES

After releasing the first official image of Henry Cavill as Superman in Man of Steel yesterday, Warner Bros continued their new media blitz with an official image of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Catwoman, in The Dark Knight Rises.
The image was officially named "Selina Kyle," not "Catwoman," so it should be noted that this very well may not be the entire Catwoman costume. Notably, she has no cowl/mask of any sort, only having goggles (that look very high-tech, like what a good modern theifshould be wearing!) and the trademark, erm, catsuit.
She appears, in this photo, to be stealing the motorcycle component of Batman's "tumbler" vehicle, or the "batpod." Regardless, this looks like Batman-developed tech she's driving.
More is surely on its way in the relatively near future. The release of this image was likely to combat the massive leak of set photos and videos from production in Pittsburgh earlier this week.

"MAN OF STEEL” REVEALED

Much-anticipated First Look at Star Henry Cavill as Superman

Thursday morning Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures gave the world the first image fromSuperman: Man of Steel, the now 2013 big screen reboot of the Superman franchise, directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan.

The image shows star Henry Cavill in a new Superman costume, apparently busting out of (or is it into?) a vault. The costume uses a flecked pattern, looking frankly a little more like the "Kryptonian armor" costume the character will be wearing in the DC Comics relaunch in September.

There's also a shadow hiding the just-below-the-waist area of the costume, but it certainly appears that the main body of the costume is all blue, with no red trunks, again lining up with the new costume

Film Review: "Captain America: The First Avenger"

Synopsis: Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving.)

Review:  With plenty of pulpy action, a pleasantly retro vibe, and a handful of fine performances, Captain America is solidly old-fashioned blockbuster entertainment. This movie sticks true to its comic book background. Chris Evans did great in playing the part as the America's Hero. He showed emotion when acting as captain america before and after. I thought the fight scenes were great and it had a story line leading up to the dramatic ending. This is a must see movie of the summer and you will enjoy even if you are not a fan of the comics.

SDCC 2011: Unveiling 7 'Avengers' Movie Posters

The first poster shows us a very photorealistic Chris Evans in the new uniform conveniently juxtaposed against his costume that most of us have yet to even see on the big screen (as the movie releases today). So, spoiler warning: he survives the first movie obviously .

Next up is Tony Stark doing his Tony Stark thing. No stark differences noticed in the Armor design this time other than the fact that in this rendering he seems to have returned to his circular arc reactor as opposed to the pentagon shape from Iron Man 2.

Next up: Hawkeye and Black Widow

Next: Thor and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nicky Fury, Coulson and Maria Hill

Last but not least, the Hulk!
