Superman Renounces US Citizenship in ACTION COMICS #900
Superman has renounced his US citizenship, and for a character long-known for "truth, justice, and the American way," that's big news.
Though DC's promotion of this week's 96-page Action Comics #900 centered around the main story — the conclusion of the year-long "Black Ring" saga starring Lex Luthor — it was a back-up written by David S. Goyer and illustrated by Miguel Sepulveda that's making headlines.
In the story, Superman is scolded by a member of the president's security staff for appearing at a protest in Iran, with the notion that Superman's actions reflect the positions of US government as a whole. As a result, Superman chooses to renounce his US citizenship, rather than have his deeds be construed as a statement of any one entity's policies.
Unsurprisingly, the story has been picked up by several national news outlets since the issue's release on Wednesday. The New York Post called it a "shocking pronouncement," and quoted DC Entertainment co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee as stating, "In a short story in Action Comics #900, Superman announces his intention to put a global focus on his never ending battle, but he remains, as always, committed to his adopted home and his roots as a Kansas farm boy from Smallville."
In a Fox News article on Superman's proclamation, "GOP activist" Angie Meyer is quoted saying, "Besides being riddled with a blatant lack of patriotism, and respect for our country, Superman's current creators are belittling the United States as a whole. By denouncing his citizenship, Superman becomes an eerie metaphor for the current economic and power status the country holds worldwide." In contrast, the same piece quotesWired's Scott Thill, saying, "Superman has always been bigger than the United States. In an age rife with immigration paranoia, it’s refreshing to see an alien refugee tell the United States that it’s as important to him as any other country on Earth -- which, in turn, is as important to Superman as any other planet in the multiverse."
It's unclear at this time whether or not the move will be followed up on in the pages of Action Comics or elsewhere. Goyer, the screenwriter of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is not currently regularly working on any comic books for DC.

Marvel's The Avengers Begins Production
Production has commenced today in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated movie “Marvel’s The Avengers,” directed by Joss Whedon (“Serenity”) from a screenplay by Whedon. The film will continue principal photography in Cleveland, Ohio and New York City. Robert Downey, Jr. (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) returns as the iconic Tony Stark/Iron Man along with Chris Hemsworth (“Thor”) as Thor, Chris Evans (“Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Captain America, Jeremy Renner (“Thor,” “The Hurt Locker”) as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo (“The Kids Are Alright”) as Hulk, Scarlett Johansson (“Iron Man 2”) as Black Widow, Clark Gregg (“Iron Man,” “Thor”) as Agent Phil Coulson, and Samuel L. Jackson (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”) as Nick Fury. Set for release in the US on May 4, 2012, “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the first feature to be fully owned, marketed and distributed by Disney, which acquired Marvel in 2009.
Continuing the epic big-screen adventures started in “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Marvel’s The Avengers” is the super hero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster.
Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1963, “Marvel’s The Avengers” brings together the mightiest super hero characters as they all assemble together on screen for the first time. The star studded cast of super heroes will be joined by Cobie Smulders (“How I Met Your Mother) as Agent Maria Hill of S.H.I.E.L.D., as well as Tom Hiddleston (“Wallander”) and Stellan Skarsgård (“Angels & Demons,” “Mamma Mia!”) who will both reprise their respective roles as Loki and Professor Erik Selvig from the upcoming Marvel Studios’ feature “Thor.”
“Marvel’s The Avengers” is being produced by Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Louis D’Esposito, Patty Whitcher, and Jon Favreau. Marvel Studios’ Jeremy Latcham and Victoria Alonso will co-produce.
The creative production team also includes Oscar nominated director of photography Seamus McGarvey (“Atonement”), production designer James Chinlund (“25th Hour”), Oscar winning costume designer Alexandra Byrne (“Elizabeth: The Golden Age”), Oscar winning visual effects supervisor Janek Sirrs (“Iron Man 2,” “The Matrix”), visual effects producer Susan Pickett (“Iron Man,” “Iron Man 2”), stunt coordinator R.A. Rondell (“Superman Returns”), and four-time Oscar nominated special effects supervisor Dan Sudick (“Iron Man,” “War of the Worlds”). The editors include Oscar nominated Paul Rubell (“Collateral”) and Jeffrey Ford (“Crazy Heart”).
Marvel Studios most recently produced “Iron Man 2” which was released in theatres on May 7, 2010. The sequel to “Iron Man,” starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow as well as Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke, took the number one spot its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million. To date the film has earned over $620 million in worldwide box office receipts.
In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies, “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey, Jr. originally dons the super hero’s powerful armor alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008 and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million its opening weekend and grossed over $571 million worldwide. On June 13, 2008, Marvel released “The Incredible Hulk” marking its second number one opener of that summer. The spectacular revival of the iconic green goliath grossed over $250 million in worldwide box office receipts.
In addition to "Marvel's The Avengers," "Thor," Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including "Thor" on May 6, 2011; "Captain America: The First Avenger" on July 22, 2011; and "Iron Man 3" on May 3, 2013.

Kanye West Foundation closes

The news was made public after former executive director Joseph Collins sent an email to associates stating that he was out of a job and that the phone had been disconnected at headquarters.
"I am reaching out to let you know that the Kanye West Foundation has officially closed it doors after a successful 4+ years of programming and events," he wrote. "It has been an incredible experience working with Kanye and the board to realize his mother's vision and I am honored to have been given the opportunity to lead the Foundation."
According to reports, West did not actually fund the establishment himself. Filing its taxes as if it were a private charity, the foundation reached out to corporations with whom West does business. Madison Square Garden donated $151,754 to the organization, while clothing shingle Karmaloop shelled out $20,000 to 'Ye. In total, the charity raised an average of $492,000 each year.
The foundation's site, which is yet to be taken down, explains that the mission of the organization is to "help combat the severe dropout problem in schools across the United States by partnering with community organizations to provide under-served youth access to music production programs."
The 2007 death of its founder and West's mother, Donda West, may have contributed to the program's cancellation, though an explanation is still pending

BATMAN: YEAR ONE Voices, Screen Shots Revealed
Bryan Cranston, Ben McKenzie, Eliza Dushku and Katee Sackhoff have been tapped to star as the voices in Batman: Year One, the adaptation of the Frank Miller comic book classic from Warner Premiere, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation.
Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu are directing the movie, the 12th entry in the successful series of DC universe animated originals. Tab Murphy wrote the script.
The feature adapts the landmark four-issue story written by Miller and drawn by David Mazzucchelli that first appeared in 1987 on the heels of Miller's seminal work, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Those tomes, along with The Watchmen, helped elevate the comics medium, changing the public's perception of the art form and influencing Hollywood writers and artists to this day.
In Year One, a young Bruce Wayne is first starting out as a costumed vigilante. He creates an early bond with Lieutenant James Gordon, whose importance in the tale makes it as much as Gordon's story as Wayne's.
Cranston is playing Gordon, while McKenzie is Wayne/Batman. Dushku voices Catwoman, while Sackhoff is Detective Sarah Essen, a Gordon love interest.
Additionally, Alex Rocco lends his pipes as crime lord Carmine Falcone.
As one of the holy grails in comic books, Year One will be closely scrutinized for faithfulness, but superhero animation veteran Bruce Timm, who is exec producing, says there is very little in the movie that isn't in the comic.
"The source material is surprisingly cinematic; it's a pretty straight forward literal retelling," he says. "Mazzucchelli's artwork is beautifully composed and we were able to refer to the comic for about 80 percent of the camera setups."
Cranston, an Emmy winner for AMC's Breaking Bad, says he initially turned down the chance to work on Year One, not even wanting to read the script. He blames it on his ignorance of the animation medium as well as the classic comics.
"I wasn't aware of this level of storytelling in animation. I confess that freely," he says. "They didn't give the characters the short shrift. I was stunned."
Batman: Year One, which will be rated PG-13, is scheduled to be released on home video in the fall but will world premiere in July at Comic-Con

Utimate Spider-Man Animated Series Update
The show will premiere on Disney XD at some unknown point in 2012. You can read all about the unique set up of the summit/writer's room at Marvel.com. The series will function a lot more like a tradition network TV show, with a collaborative writing team, where most animated series are written individually. And that writing team is one heck of a cadre of experience with both Spider-Man, Marvel, and comics in general.
Women's 10 favorite quotes
For sure that you have or have had female partner, you will recognize these words that at first do not sound as bad, but are not very encouraging background. Here are the 10 words used by women, and its real meaning.
1) "List": This is the word women use to end an argument when they say the last word and you've fallen silent. Means that are sure to be right.
2) "5 minutes", can have two meanings: if you are in need of something and the woman is getting dressed, talking on the phone or watching your favorite soap opera, this means half an hour. If she needs you for something and you're playing playstation or watching a game, means two minutes.
3) "NOTHING": This means very angry or annoyed about something. Generally used when the man asks Is something wrong? Means that if something happens and is very serious. Arguments that begin with nothing usually last from one hour to 3 years and end with READY (see point 1).
4) "DO WHAT YOU WANT": NO definitely means whatever you want.
5) "Loud Sigh": This is like a word, but not verbal. Often men do not know how to interpret. A big sigh means she thinks you're an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time arguing with you fighting about nothing (see point 3).
6) "OK": One of the most dangerous words a woman can make to a man. Although it seems to mean that I was right, it really means that women need time to think carefully before deciding how and when to make you pay.
7) "Thanks": Traditionally women pronounce this word only once a year. If a woman is thanking you, do not ask questions or pass out, you just say thanks. Note: But if you say THANK YOU is pure sarcasm and not giving you the grace of truth.
8) "As": the woman's gentle way to say go to hell!
9) "DO NOT WORRY THAT I DO IT": Another dangerous statement. Means that a woman asked a man something twice (no matter if it was at times or even in different years), and considered it necessary to give up and do it herself. This will lead man to ask but what did I do wrong? The response of women is the number 3.
10) "WHO IS IT?": This is just a simple question, but remember that every time a woman asks 'who is' in reality you are asking: "¿WHO IS THAT BITCH AND WHAT DO YOU WANT? Beware your answer fellas!

Kid Cudi says bye-bye to drugs
Cudi announced that he’s ready to give up the ghost, rather, the smoke.
"I dont smoke weed anymore. I'll leave it to the kids. I'm 27 with a business to run and i need to be alert and focused with my mind strong. For those who still get it on, smoke one in my memory as your favorite lonely stoner.
This is not a joke. I know most of you wanna see me all drugged out and fucked up and i know misery loves company, but i'm sorry those days are over. I had a good run, Amsterdam and all. I'm happy being sober. I'm happy being a new me. Giva fuck who thinks of me different, you didnt care about me in the first place if you cant be proud and happy for me for growing and starting a new chapter. I'm not your puppet or your tap dancing drug addict here to be your miserable muse, i always made music for me to help myself find understanding. I have finally learned from the words in my songs. I love who loves me and who really cares about me.
Learn from this, theres always light at the end of the tunnel. Hell does have an exit, and i found it. For those who are looking for a way out, i left the door open, and i'll be waiting for whoever wants to grow with me. Peace and Love, Cudi "
Do you think he can quit?

Film Review: "Paul"
Review: Do you love to laugh? Because I sure as hell do, and trust me when I say that this movie will make you laugh from beginning to end. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have done it again!! these two guys are seriously the British Dynamic Duo!!! You rarely see two good actors/writers, and Seth Rogan as paul was just perfect!! I honestly can't think of anyone else who could've voiced a foul-mouth alien who's been stuck on earth for sixty years!! And the C.G.I. was perfect!! "Paul" is aimed primarily at comic-book fans and cosmos-loving adults who aren't easily offended. But the phenomenal cast, funny script and solid pacing help make "Paul" a stellar cinematic excursion for even the most down-to-earth humans. So like I said: If you love to laugh, then this movie is for you.

Green Lantern Wondercon Footage
Wondercon was this weekend, and on saturday Warner Bros. gave the fans a sneak peek of footage from the Green Lantern movie, which is scheduled for release on June 17th, 2011. I'm a huge Green Lantern fan since comic book writer Geoff Johns wrote Green Lantern: Rebirth, which came out in 2004. and I've been reading it ever since. So I'm excited about the release of this film coming out, despite the fact that Ryan Reynolds doesn't quite fit the role of Hal Jordan to me due to his comedic background. But from the footage I've seen, it looks promising. I just wiah that the costume wasn't C.G.I. and that they kept the lantern's modern, traditional look.
I understand they wanted to give it that "alien" look, but come on people!!! It's the small things like this that piss off comic book fans. but despite the small problems changes they made, I'm still very excited to see this film. Hell, I might even see it in IMAX 3D.
What do you Think??
