It's been a long time/2016 relationships and the aftermath of not burning bridges

It's been awhile since I've written a blog, but let's go for it while I have heartache and rage to fuel me. I'm still single. I was/am interested in someone who lives in Colorado, although I live in Florida, I believed that we could've made it happen. The names and states in this story have been altered by the way. I was talking to this girl I met on twitter named Alana for the past year and a half, Alana lives in Colorado while I live in Florida. We would talk everyday about anything, comics, sci-fi, anime, video games, etc... One day we finally decided to exchange numbers and we TALKED EVERY SINGLE DAY. It was the best thing ever! I was letting my emotional walls down, and that is a EXTREMELY hard thing for me to do. This girl was embedded into my heart, my brain. We connected on a mental level. Then one day I want to say sometime last November, I tell Alana about a comic book convention that I go to every year in Miami, she says, "I'll come out there and go with you." I was ecstatic, I'm finally meeting the girl of my dreams, this is really happening! Unfortunately, she had to cancel because of work related issues. I was devastated, but fate just decided that it wasn't our time. Jump forward to February, she tells me that she's going on spring break in a few weeks and was deciding where to go that had a beach, so I recommended that she come to the Sunshine State! She says yes. So she comes into town with her kids, and we have fun. and while she's here, I'm realizing that I'm happy, I'm genuinely happy. I haven't felt joy like this in a long time! Segway that leads further into the story: I don't like burning bridges with certain people because they've been a part of my life for a long time, and I can talk to them about anything. Back to the story, we go to the zoo and we have so much fun. She feeds the Giraffes (Her favorite animal) and starts to cry, I feel my heart melt even further. In the back of my brain I'm thinking "I've officially fallen in love." I receive a call later that evening from a friend who's also an ex (don't like burning bridges remember) she asks me: "how was your date?" I say "it was okay, but I'm not sure it was a date." she asks me 1,000 questions about Alana, then I say, "Clara, enough with the questions, I'm happy, can't you just be happy for me? Shit" She tells me that she is happy for me, but I can tell from the tone in her voice, that there's some slight resentment. The next day we go the the Florida Everglades, and we go on an air boat ride, and see a few more animals. After all's said in done we go and visit my friend in the hospital. we sit there and talk to him for about an hour of so, I'm asking him when he's supposed to be leaving because he's been in there for a month (he got out a few days later.) We go back to my house and get ready to wrap things up because it's her last night in town. I get a call from Clara asking if I had sex with Alana, I tell Clara: "not that it's any of your fucking business who I have sex with, but NO!" I hang up the phone and put it on silent. Alana falls asleep because she's leaving at 5AM. So me and her oldest son Sam are up talking about comic books, and movies, etc. Eventually I go to bed because I also have to get up to see her off. she leaves and I'm sad because she's gone. I go on Facebook later that evening and write "Bummed out because the special girl is gone." Clara takes it upon herself to write "should've got it in when you could." This stupid little comment pissed Alana off so much that our "relationship" took a huge step back! We barely talk anymore because she assumes that I was going to get back with my ex as soon as she left, she changed her number so now I can't even call or text her to say good morning to her anymore. This was last month and ever since then I've been numb. I went a a date and kept calling the girl "Alana." Needless to say, there will not be a second date. I've pretty much severed all ties with Clara, We don't hang out anymore, I've deleted her from my Facebook, We barely talk anymore, and when we do, I bring up that sideways shit every time. I can't talk to her about certain things in my life anymore. Alana did something that really hurt me recently, and I found out about it today. I don't want to get into that right now because it's still fresh and it's what gave me the motivation to write this blog. I really don't know what else to say besides I'm heartbroken, sad, and, and feel betrayed. Now Alana only wants to be "just friends." I said that I wasn't going to drink this this year, but that's pretty much down the drain at this point! Do you guys feel as if I should give up or keep trying?

Never Forget..

9/11. The date alone evokes a lot of unpleasant and sad memories. It also makes me remember a certain issue of The Amazing Spider-Man that I have, which served as a remembrance of that day that will be forever remembered as one of the worst attacks by terrorism.

Yes, the simple black cover to this issue said it all. Originally released on December 2001, The Amazing Spider-Man #36 was one of the rare instances a comic book deviated from its ongoing storyline and focused on a situation/event that was as real as it was going to get. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and illustrated by John Romita Jr., the books serves as a medium for the writer and artist to voice out their feelings regarding what transpired that day, showing Spider-Man wracked with shock and grief like many others, as he looks over and searches for survivors over the remains of what was once the World Trade Center.

The message sent here was simple and clear -  it was a tragedy nobody could ever forget. The damage, fear, and chaos that was a result of those attacks still haunt many who experienced it first hand to this day, and those of us around the world who watched helplessly over various mediums could only feel pain, remorse, and anger over what transpired. My own memories of watching the horrible events unfold in CNN were as clear as yesterday, and even though 10 years have passed, we still remember and honor the memories of those who died and gave their lives bravely to help those in need that day.

Straczynski and Romita Jr. presented one of the most heartfelt tales that reflected the obvious shock people had over this event, as well as the overwhelming guilt and responsibility fictional heroes like Spider-Man felt over a terrible crisis like this. As someone who has fought for the safety of others, the webslinger is grounded and helpless to do anything even with all of his powers at his disposal. Arriving at Ground Zero after the dust clears, he valiantly looks for signs of life, joining his fellow superheroes to work with other rescuers and emergency units in finding as many survivors as they can. It was a heartfelt message of remembrance and heroism at a time when America truly needed those heroes. Even though it's been almost 13 years since this issue hit newsstands, it still resonates with me as one of the clearest and honest reactions to 9/11. We will never forget...

Iron Man 3: Review

Synopsis: Marvel's "Iron Man 3" pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Review: "Iron Man 3" does what most third entries in movie franchise don't do, turns in a great movie. This holds up very nicely next to the previous 2 installments, and I'd say it's probably better than "Iron Man 2" and about the same as the first movie. Here, Tony Stark(Robert Downey Jr.) is haunted by the events of the Avengers and finds himself obsessing over creating and perfecting new suits. He is constantly trying to figure out new way to protect Pepper(Gwyneth Paltrow), and make the suits better and better. Then he placed in the cross hairs of a terrorist called the Mandarin(Ben Kingsley). Going any further than that would be a disservice to anyone who hasn't seen the movie, because there are quite a few surprises and twists, that I didn't see coming at all. Very unconventional super hero movie, which is great because it's a true breathe of fresh air. It's not your typical good guy vs. bad guy movie in a lot of ways. All the performances are great, and it really leaves you with a sense of "how are they gonna do another one?!" Marvel is battling a thousand when it comes to their movies and they continue that streak here. This is the first must see movie of the Summer and a great way to kick off the summer movie season. Also, stay after the credits, it's pretty awesome. 

More X-MEN Veterans Added to DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Cast

The cavalcade of X-Men movie alums appearing in 2014's Days of Future Past keeps getting bigger, with director Bryan Singer tweeting on Saturday that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore have all joined the cast.

Paquin played Rogue in the first three X-Men movies (the first two were directed by Singer, the third by Brett Ratner), and Ashmore portrayed Iceman in the same films. Page played Kitty Pryde in the third, 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, a year and a half before her acclaimed role in Juno.

Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier) and Ian McKellen (Magneto) are also slated to reprise their roles from the original X-Men films, along with X-Men: First Class cast members James McAvoy (younger Xavier), Michael Fassbender (younger Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast).

X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled for release on July 18, 2014.

Jim Carrey is featured in the photo along with Kick-Ass himself, Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Carrey plays Colonel Stars and Stripes in the film who invites Kick-Ass to join his group of superheroes called 'Justice Forever.'

After Kick-Ass'  insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes, our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist—reborn as The Mother Fucker—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl can prevent their annihilation. 

Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo and Donald Faison co-star in the adaptation of the Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. comic.

Rise of the Guardians: Review

Synopsis: Rise of the Guardians is an epic adventure that tells the story of a group of heroes - each with extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit known as Pitch Black lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children all over the world.

 

Review: The vocal performances are excellent: Chris Pine makes an appealing lead as Jack Frost, giving him an air of cocky bravado with an underlying vulnerability (he's frustrated and upset because children can't see him) that works well, while Baldwin and Jackman are both very funny as North and Bunny, particularly Bunny's lively spats with Frost (‘Who's this? The Easter Kangaroo?’). On top of that, Jude Law makes a suitably hissable villain as Pitch, injecting exactly the right tone, while the silent but imaginatively animated Sandman manages to be an expressive and interesting character in his own right.

Ramsey maintains a lively pace throughout and orchestrates some entertainingly zippy action sequences (some of which are possibly a little too zippy). Similarly, the dialogue is frequently very funny and the film carries a powerful message without getting bogged down in sugary sentimentality. That said, parents should probably be prepared for an onslaught of questions about the real-world existence of all the characters.

The animation is extremely impressive throughout, thanks to some gorgeously detailed and colourful production design, augmented by some decent 3D effects. Crucially, the characters and story are deliberately global in appeal rather than obviously all-American, with character design elements (such as the bright green colours of the Tooth Fairy's costume) taken from other cultures and legends around the world; this also allows for one of the film's best moments, a cameo by a little French mouse that the Tooth Fairy explains as ‘our European division’ (this is even funnier if you've seen the delightful and charming Ernest & Celestine).

Rise of the Guardians is a lively and entertaining family adventure that should appeal to adults and children alike, thanks to gorgeous animation, a witty script and terrific performances from a superb voice cast.
